Autumn 2008
GlOM, MDGS and the L.E.G.S shows were a success for our girls this year. We were able to pull in a couple of Grand and Reserve Championships. A couple of our girls will receive their legs with ADGA and that's a great start! Of course, those goat shows can be addicting and you find yourself laying awake at night thinking about what you can "sell" just to fund your addiction! Well, at some point you have to put the brakes on and slow down and that is just what we have done for right now. It doesn't mean that I can't "think" about it.
Our own Allegan County Fair goat show wrapped up the season for us. Our girls were outstanding. Allison started of showing with 21 expo kids and she was pulled out for first place. Although they all get a green ribbon, we were so proud of her. Nicole took second place in showmanship with Jessica. She went on to take Grand Champion Youth with our All Creatures Cocoa Chanel and Reserve Jr Champion Youth with our little Lindsey, Cocoa's doe kid from this year. Way to go girls. We ended up taking Grand Champion with our Daisy Mae and we couldn't be happier. First, second and Fourth in the herd division and First, Second and Sixth in the dam and daughter.
It's always a long week at our fair, but worth every minute!
Our new feed supplement is proving to be a success. How fortunate was I to find a really nice gentleman who was willing to go the mile for formulating a custom made mineral mix for our goats! (Thanks Pete!) I can already see the great results coming our way.
We attended the Lenawee County Fair goat show on July 26,2008. Both the does and bucks placed well and had a lot of nice comments from our judge that day.
Time was set aside this summer to welcome back our good friends who have moved so far away. The girls hit it off great (again) and we even got Nicole and Savannah to pose, once again, for a long needed photo!
